The Most Expensive Cookware in the World (Luxury Brands Worth Buying)

What is the most expensive cookware on the market? Is high-priced, luxury cookware better than more affordable cookware? Is expensive cookware worth it?

If you’re shopping for cookware and these questions are on your mind, you’ve come to the right place.

In this guide, I share with you the most expensive cookware brands and collections in the world. You’ll learn why these luxury brands are so expensive and whether they’re worth the investment.

Let’s get started.

What Type of Cookware Is the Most Expensive?

When shopping for cookware, you’ll notice that prices range significantly between brands.

The factors that have the most significant impact on price include the materials, how it’s made, where it’s produced, and the brand’s reputation. Let’s look at each of these in a bit more depth.

Cookware made with more expensive materials, such as premium stainless steel and copper, are more expensive than cooking made with cheaper materials.

Made In copper cookware made in France

For example, aluminum cookware with a PTFE coating (traditional non-stick cookware) is significantly less expensive than stainless steel cookware with a copper core and steel lid.

Materials also impact the longevity of the cookware. Aluminum with PTFE coating only lasts between one and five years. Stainless steel and other, more expensive materials can last for a lifetime.

The way cookware is made has a major impact on price.

Fully clad (or multi-clad) cookware is expensive because it’s made with multiple layers of bonded metal. In general, the more layers, the more expensive. For example,  5-ply cookware costs more than 3-ply, and 7-ply costs more than 5-ply.

Also, cookware that’s hand-made or hand-finished is much more expensive than cookware that’s mass produced by machine.

Where It’s Made

Cookware made in Europe or the United States is the most expensive due to higher labor costs, stricter regulations, and quality materials. Cookware made in China is less costly due to lower labor and compliance costs.

Brand Reputation

The brand’s reputation also affects the cost of the cookware. People pay more for brands with a long history and a strong reputation. The prestige that comes with trusted brands like Le Creuset, All-Clad, and Mauviel carries a hefty price tag. Check out The Definitive Guide to the Best Cookware Brands to learn more.

Now let’s review some of the most expensive cookware brands and collections in the world.

All-Clad Copper Core

All-Clad has been producing high-performing, durable, and elegant cookware since the 1970s.

The company is famous for its fully clad stainless steel cookware, and one of their most popular (and expensive) collections is the Copper Core.

How expensive is it? You can check the current prices on Amazon.

Why Is It So Expensive?

All-Clad Copper Core, as its name suggests, is made with a copper core layer. The use of this material is one factor that drives up the price.

Not only does the copper make the cookware more responsive to changes in heat, but it also makes it more aesthetic. Each pot and pan features an elegant copper ring around the exterior’s lower half.

All-Clad Copper Core cookware boasts five-ply construction. Three-ply construction is standard with stainless steel cookware, but the additional layers in this five-ply collection add to it’s durability and uniform heat transfer.

Below are the materials All-Clad uses to construct its Copper Core cookware:

  • Exterior: 18/0 stainless steel
  • Core: aluminum, copper, aluminum
  • Cooking surface: 18/10 stainless steel

Important to note: All-Clad sources all of its materials and manufactures its cookware in the United States.

Is It Worth the Money?

Copper is the most conductive metal used in cookware today. If you’re after quick and even heating with no cool spots, copper is king.

This cookware’s five-ply construction and copper core enhance both its durability and performance.

The stainless steel interior with a starburst finish offers stick resistance and easy maintenance, making the cooking experience a breeze.

The interior won’t react with food; you can use this cookware for all ingredients.

It’s also broiler and oven safe up to 600°F and induction compatible.

If you’re after quick, responsive, and durable American-made cookware, this is definitely worth the money.

However, if you’re looking for something non-stick or don’t cook recipes requiring advanced techniques and skills, this might not be the top choice for you.

Mauviel M’Heritage

Mauviel M’Heritage is another incredibly expensive cookware collection.

Mauviel has been making premium cookware in France for nearly 200 years, and its craftspeople still use traditional techniques during every production stage.

Check out the current prices of this cookware on Amazon.

Why Is It So Expensive?

The Mauviel M’Heritage collection is the “art of perfection.” At first glance, you’ll be stunned by its beauty — the cookware stands out from the crowd.

It’s made with 90% copper and 10% 18/10 stainless steel. However, unlike some other copper cookware, this isn’t clad with multiple layers. It consists of one thin stainless steel layer and a 1.5 or 2.5mm thick copper layer.

With this collection, there are multiple handle options. You can choose between bronze, stainless steel, and iron.

It’s produced in Mauviel’s factories in France where the company’s skilled craftspeople uphold the highest production standards to ensure the best quality.

The company values heritage and traditions, which is evident in its stunning design and exceptional craftsmanship.

Is It Worth the Money?

If you’re looking for cookware that looks as good as it performs, this collection is definitely worth the money.

One of the most standout factors of this cookware is its appearance. The copper exterior is elegant and eye catching. It will certainly be a statement piece in your kitchen.

However, if you prefer cookware that does it’s job but blends into the background of your kitchen, this collection isn’t worth the high price.

As for performance, the copper has exceptional thermal conductivity, giving you precise temperature control. It heats up faster, so you need to pay close attention when you’re cooking.

If you want something a bit more forgiving in terms of technique, this might not be the collection for you.

This cookware requires a bit of a learning curve, so, if you’re a novice, you might want to look for something more beginner-friendly.

Also, keep in mind that the copper exterior will tarnish, so to keep it looking beautiful, it needs to be hand washed and polished regularly.

Demeyere Atlantis

Demeyere Atlantis is another high-end cookware collection that comes with a hefty price tag.

This family-run company has been at the forefront of sustainable and innovative stainless steel cookware since 1908, and Atlantis is the brand’s most sought after collection.

See how Demeyere Atlantis compares to Demeyere Industry in this in-depth comparison.

Exterior of Demeyere cookware

How expensive is this cookware? You can check the prices on Amazon and Zwilling.com (Zwilling is Demeyere’s parent company).

Why Is It So Expensive?

This cookware is crafted in Belgium, using an incredible 7-ply construction.

This type of construction provides unparalleled heat distribution and retention, meaning the pan will remain warm even after you’ve taken it off the heat, and it also responds brilliantly to temperature adjustments.

Much of the reason Demeyere Atlantis is so expensive is due to its versatility. It’s suitable for all tasks, including frying, browning, and searing.

This cookware features unique and patented components, including its InductoSeal base and Silvinox surface treatment. So with this collection, you’re paying for characteristics that can’t be found from other brands.

Is It Worth the Money?

What’s the big difference between 7-ply and 5-ply, and is it worth the money?

You’ll get quality results from both, but the 7-ply construction (which includes a copper disc) is thicker, more resistant to warping, and absorbs and retains heat better.

The InductoSeal base is made with a copper disk for superb heat conduction. It’s also induction compatible and proven to be 30% more effective on induction ranges than its competitors.

Unlike most cookware with rounded bottom edges, the InductoSeal base stays flat, stable, and warp-resistant.

The Silvinox surface treatment is what keeps the stainless steel in mint condition. It helps maintain the silver matte finish, resists fingerprints, and is easy to clean.

If you are looking for versatile, well-constructed cookware from a brand that’s been trusted for over 100 years, Demeyere Atlantis is worth the money.

Ruffoni Symphonia Cupra

Ruffoni cookware has been hand-crafted in Italy since 1931, and the Ruffoni Symphonia Cupra collection is the brand’s most popular (and most expensive) collection. You can see how expensive it is on Amazon.

Why Is It So Expensive?

Made in Italy, the Ruffoni Symphonia Cupra collection is the epitome of luxury.

The artisanal, hand-hammered exterior is stunning. The attention to detail and high production standards is why this collection is so expensive.

The triple-layer construction includes an aluminum core, a copper exterior, and a bonded stainless steel interior. With this collection, you get durability, heat conduction, and beauty.

Is It Worth the Money?

This gourmet collection combines Italian copper craftsmanship with incredible culinary performance. It’s designed to last for generations, so the investment is something you can pass down through your family.

The combination of copper, aluminum, and stainless steel provides excellent heat conduction, durability, and versatility. So, whether you’re searing a steak, simmering a sauce, or stir frying vegetables, this collection is up to the task.

Ruffoni Symphonia Cupra is oven safe up to 450°F and suitable for most cooktops. However, it’s not induction compatible.

Of course, a huge attraction to this collection is the aesthetics, so if the copper exterior and detailed handles don’t appeal to you, this collection isn’t worth your money. You can pay a bit less and get something as effective without the glamor.

Matfer Bourgeat Copper

For over 100 years, Matfer Bourgeat has created some of the best French cookware. Matfer Bourgeat Copper is the brand’s most admired and highest-priced collection.

You can check the current prices on Amazon.

Why Is It So Expensive?

Matfer Bourgeat is expensive due to the two centuries of French craftsmanship behind the company. You’re paying for over 200 years of expertise, brand heritage, and tradition.

What you get in return is a quality piece of cookware and an heirloom that you can pass onto the next generation.

Much like Mauviel and Ruffoni, Matfer Bourgeat specializes in ultra-responsive copper cookware—the type of cookware you’d find in high-end French restaurants.

This collection is made with high-quality materials: a copper exterior and stainless steel interior, both expensive and coveted materials.

Is It Worth the Money?

If you’re looking for authentic French-made copper cookware from a brand that’s been trusted for over 200 years, the Matfer Bourgeat Copper collection is worth it.

It’s a hefty upfront investment, but it’s designed to last multiple generations,so you’re really investing in a family heirloom.

With a 2.5mm thick copper exterior, it provides quick and even heating, and performs similarly to the Mauviel and Ruffoni collections.

One thing I don’t love about this cookware is that the handles are a bit bulky and unattractive. In my opinion, they take away from the beauty of the copper. Then again, Matfer Bourgeat has been one of the top French cookware brands for centuries, so apparently others don’t agree with me on this point.

Le Creuset Enameled Cast Iron

Le Creuset Dutch oven review

Le Creuset Enameled Cast Iron is some of the most expensive cookware in the world.

The company is best known for its bright-colored Dutch ovens, but they offer saucepans, skillets, and many other items, too.

You can check the prices of the whole enameled cast iron range on Amazon.

Why Is It So Expensive?

Le Creuset is famous for its cast iron Dutch ovens that they’ve been perfecting for over 100 years. So you’re paying the quality and consistency you get with an experienced, trusted brand.

The cast iron Dutch oven is a workhorse. You can use it in the oven and on the stovetop, including induction. It’s perfect for stews, roasts, soups, casseroles, baking, and other one-pot meals.

The thick and durable construction is unmatched for retaining heat. With Le Creuset, you can cook hours in advance and enjoy time with your guests without worrying about the food getting cold.

The brand is famous for it’s bright and bold two-toned exteriors. Currently, Le Creuset offers over 20 different exterior colors. It’s most popular, best-selling color is called Flame; the orange gradient pays tribute to the molten cast iron hue created during the manufacturing process.

Le Creuset also has other cast iron items such as braisers, skillets, grills, roasters, and more. Each item boasts an enameled interior for quick and easy cleanup.

Is It Worth the Money?

Le Creuset is one of the most recognizable cookware brands in the world. You can’t watch a cooking show, browse a wedding registry, or walk the aisles at fancy kitchen supply stores without running into Le Creuset.

It’s iconic and unique colors and design make it stand out from the crowd. But it’s not all looks; Le Creuset Dutch ovens perform exceptionally well.

The thick walls retain heat better than most, the heavy, form-fitting lid traps in moisture, and the enameled interior creates a non-stick surface that offers exceptional food release.

If you’re looking for the best Dutch oven or enameled cast iron cookware, Le Creuset is the brand to buy.

Although it’s more expensive than the competition, Le Creuset is worth it because you’re getting high-performing French-made cookware from a brand that’s been at the top of the industry since 1925. Plus, with proper care, it will last a lifetime.

Hestan CopperBond

Hestan - CopperBond Collection - 100% Pure Copper 10-Piece Ultimate Cookware Set

Hestan CopperBond is another one of the world’s most costly cookware collections.

The company’s mission is to create innovative cookware with a strong emphasis on the finer details. Since the 1970s, Hestan has been producing hand-crafted cookware in Italy.

Hestan CopperBond cookware is available on Amazon and HestanCulinary.com.

Why Is It So Expensive?

Hestan CopperBond is Italian hand-crafted quality cookware, available in many sizes and product offerings, with incredible beauty and performance.

Innovation is at the forefront of this collection. Each piece is made with a 5-ply bonded construction, 100% pure copper, and a wrap-around stainless steel base and interior. The stainless steel handles and lids feature a shiny, polished finish.

This cookware also has reinforced stainless steel rims for drip-free pouring and a large surface area, 20% bigger than traditional pots and pans.

Besides quality construction, you’re paying for the brand’s reputation and the skilled craftspeople behind each piece. Each item is hand-crafted in Italy.

Is It Worth the Money?

If you’re looking for innovative, high-performing, and elegant cookware from a brand that has an obsessive attention to detail, then Hestan CopperBond is worth the money. I love the little details, especially the drip-free pouring and large cooking surface.

The 5-ply construction provides excellent temperature control and even heat distribution. The stainless steel base is warp-resistant and compatible with all cooktops, including induction.

On the other hand, this cookware might not be worth the money if you don’t have time to maintain it properly. It’s not dishwasher safe, and the copper requires polishing.

Bottom Line: Is Expensive Cookware Worth it?

Cookware comes in a wide range of prices, but more expensive doesn’t always mean better.

The bottom line—you can get high-quality cookware for much less than the brands and collections I highlighted in this review. However, if you want cookware that checks all the boxes (high-performing, ultra-durable, stunning beauty, prestigious brand, made in the USA or Europe), then you need to pay a high price.

When shopping for cookware, ask yourself: what’s important? Is it the brand name, design, materials, performance, the feel of it in your hand (which is unique to each cook), or something else entirely?

Once you know what you want, find the cookware that matches your budget.
