How thick are your pans? And how do they compare to the ones you’re thinking about buying?
In this article, I share the thickness measurements of over 30 popular frying pans. You can scroll down to find a specific pan or use the comparison chart to quickly see them all side by side.
Thickness is one of those specs most people never think about when buying cookware, but it has an enormous impact on performance and weight. In general, thicker cookware is more durable, heats up a little slower, but retains heat better. It matters a lot more than most home cooks realize.
The problem is that it’s really difficult to find tools that accurately measure the flat cooking surface of a pan. Most micrometers are small and can only measure the edge. After searching for months, I finally found a digital micrometer that has enough clearance to fit over the walls and reach the flat cooking surface. It’s sturdy and extremely accurate.

Below are my measurements from thinnest to thickest. I’ll be adding to this article as I measure more pans, so check back regularly.
